| Aluar's main operations are carried out at its Primary Division. Annual production capacity will be in the order of 410,000 tons. The liquid aluminium produced at the reduction plant is solidified in different shapes and sizes, and is alloyed according to its clients' specific requirements. |
In middle of 2008, the recent enlargement start up finished, and this has allowed the primary aluminium production plant to have 8 rooms which include a total of 712 electrolytic pots (furnaces where aluminum is obtained in liquid state through an electrolysis process)
The electrical energy required for this process is supplied by:
- The Futaleufú Hydroelectric Power Station, that has an installed capacity of 472 MW, and a mean annual generation of 2,600,000 Mwh.
- Aluar's on-site thermoelectric station that has an installed capacity of 755 MW.
Annual energy consumption will be approximately 6,000,000 Mwh, equivalent to the mean annual consumption of a city with one million and a half inhabitants.
The on-site anodes factory produces all the anode assemblies necessary for the electrolytic process (an anode is indispensable for this process).
The liquid metal is solidified in Aluar's casthouses. In time, the company has expanded its aluminium solidification facilities in order to diversify its product mix, together with important investments in technology update and production increase, incorporating its Semifabricated Products Divisions. |
